WHAT DO WE BUILD?

A home should be one that works for you and is executed with fine precision. It should be one that provides a healthy environment for its occupants and is more than what you can visibly see. It’s making those things behind the final products sexy and ensuring you are comfortable and healthy inside your own home! We don’t build the “normal” home and are looking to create a new normal. We only build homes that mix architecture, fine details, comfort and efficiency and one that’s more than just being sustainable on the surface or a piece of paper.

In 2020 we made a decision to make sure our clients were building homes that went above and beyond to ensure they are safe and comfortable in their own homes. This lead to us only building High-Performance homes and Passive Houses. We believe as an industry we are so far behind the rest of the world and we want to change that. We want the best for our clients and won’t deliver on anything less than that.

But how does a high-performance home differ from the industry standard and what is involved?

High-Performance Homes

High Performance Homes

  • Air Tightness

All our homes must be capable of achieving under 5 ACH (air exchanges per hour). This is measured by using a blower door to test the leakage of the house. By combining this with mechanical ventilation you can make sure you have the perfect indoor air quality

  • Air Quality and Mechanical Ventilation

The delivery of filtered fresh air with heat recovery helps make our homes havens of clean air and energy efficiency. We ensure you are supplied with a continuous stream of fresh air to living spaces while simultaneously extracting stale air, odours, and indoor pollutants from kitchens and bathrooms.

  • Water and Moisture Managment

There are two parts to moisture management are to prevent bulk water from entering the home and to avoid condensation where it can harm the building. Lots of components impact how heat and moisture flow through a wall assembly: the weather-resistive barrier, the air barrier, vapour control layers, the structure, window openings, and more. We make sure these are all accounted for!

  • High Quality Windows and Glazing

We use quality windows and glazing. This means U values are less than U2.0 which have Low E Glazing and are Double or Triple Glazed windows. However, can have all the glazing in the world but if they leak air they are useless!

  • Continuous Insulation

Let's get as much insulation into your home as possible. Let’s also make it continuous to help prevent any thermal bridging and cold/hot spots. Thicker wall builds up are sexy so let’s move away from a 90mm wall and look at using 140mm walls.

  • Low Energy

No one wants high energy bills. Our homes require very little energy from heating and cooling. We look to remove gas from the property and have your home running on renewable sources so you can reduce your carbon emissions.
