Who are we?

We are a residential building company specialising in Passive House construction and seeking to increase our carpentry team. We are offering full-time employment for the right candidate.

What is the role?

Applications are welcome for a Project Carpenter in a full-time role as an employee (sorry, no subcontractors). You will work on the tools as a carpenter but also have the responsibility of working in with other trades and being the lead on 1-2 projects.

Where are we located?

We are in the Inner West and North of Melbourne, with our head office located in Footscray.

What are we looking for?

The right candidate should be a strong communicator, diligent, well-presented, with strong time management skills, excellent attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. You must also have a passion for carpentry and building to a higher standard than the market currently offers.

This role requires carpentry work specific to passive and high-performing homes, so your desire and ability to learn are essential.

In this position, the key roles and responsibilities include: 

  • Day-to-day onsite carpentry work - from subfloors, frames, claddings, lock up, fix - we do it all,

  • Lead and supervise a team of carpenters, apprentices and subcontractors, effectively delegating tasks and overseeing work required onsite.

  • Interpret plans and specifications to ensure accurate project execution

  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members - we expect you to teach our apprentices to be great carpenters

  • Minor estimation of materials, labour, and project timelines with our project management team.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of carpentry principles, building codes, and safety regulations.

  • Demonstrate good communication, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills.

  • Work well in a team - we have a great culture, and you need to fit in with everyone from the builder to the office staff to the first-year apprentice.

Non-Negotiables

  • 2 years or more experience as a carpenter across all facets of carpentry

  • You must hold a current Australian Drivers Licence and own a ute/van/trade vehicle with roof racks

  • Have a full set of tools

  • You must hold a White/Red card

  • Be a resident of Australia

  • You must love being a carpenter and being on the tools!

  • Have a basic idea of other trades and how they work

  • I have an interest in passive houses and high-performance buildings.

Remuneration is negotiated based on skills, experience and qualifications.
